Dustin Ellerman from the hit TV show Top Shot has a cool new attachment for his shotgun. It will turn your shotgun into nearly any caliber round.
He made a video showing how it works and reviews a couple of different rounds. You can see that some rounds work really well and give you a more accurate shot than a pistol. Others do not work very well at all.
