Former Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler received some push back after he posted his successful elk kill to Instagram. We do not know a lot of details about the hunt, but judging by the pictures it looks like a nice solid 6×6.
It was not too long after he posted this picture that many of his fans started unfollowing his account.
Some of his detractors made comments as such:
I will never under murdering defenseless, beautiful, unsuspecting animals as a form of entertainment. – Grape77
Unfollowing this is bullshit, can’t you find something better to do than killing animals – ChiCubs2946
How is killing that thing with a gun something to seem so proud of? I could see if you tracked it and killed it with your bare hands or a knife, something challenging. eh. – Bryonnoreh
Thank you jay for posting this. A guy I was interested in liked it and now I have never been more turned off in my life. You saved me from wasting a lot of time. – Gretabustamantee
You seem to love animals. This doesn’t make sense to me. How can you kill this beautiful innocent animal and post a pic. It makes me sick. Bye. – lisa.potter.94
His post also had it’s fair share of supporters such as:
Now thatâs what weâre talking about. Congrats on a successful hunt, Jay! -Christenarms
hi Jay, you can hold my rack anytime you want. ð – Abbmapes
Yes, how dare you do your best to help in the conservation of this beautiful animal and harvest the most organic of meat! Maybe you should just settle for having your meat bludgeoned to death by somebody else like the rest of the people on here! -MrJoshua2
It is good to see that hunters are standing by Jay and not letting the ignorant run the narrative.
There are many reasons why people hunt. I wrote an entire book on the subject. Hunters like everyone else have complicated motivations to do what they do and they are not always apparent to those who chose not to partake.
